Curry limps after Warriors loss

BOSTON (AP) — Several players were left lying on the court amid the chaotic dispute over a lost ball late in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Then Stephen Curry limped to his feet. Draymond Green left the court after committing his sixth foul in the same action.

And the Warriors’ last chance to come back dissipated with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in Wednesday’s game, during the messy play that ended up going Boston’s way, like many situations in the game.

Marcus Smart kept the ball and the Celtics held on to beat Golden State 116-100, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Golden State even trailed by 18 points in the first half. Boston was leading by 12 with about four minutes remaining.

Suddenly, Jayson Tatum missed a long shot. The rebound was hit. Three Celtics and two Warriors dove to the ground in search of the ball.

Attention focused on Curry. After the players were separated, the Golden State star remained on the court, wincing.

Celtics center Al Horford rolled on Curry’s leg during the scramble. The play was reminiscent of what happened in March, during a regular-season game, when Smart also rolled on Curry’s ankle.

Steve Kerr, the coach of the Warriors said then that that action had seemed “dangerous”.

Wednesday’s fight ended with the ejection of Green, who said something to the referee while Curry was still on the ground. Curry stayed in the game, but after baskets from both sides for Boston to take a 14-point lead, Kerr decided to send his backups into the game.
