The sporting event entitled “XI ° Corsa Zero Barriere ©“, Organized and promoted by the municipal administration and by”Disabled no Limits”- ASD Project Diver Team section, in collaboration with Fisdir Sicily, ACSI Western Sicily and other sports associations in the area, such as Entello Erice, Basketball Trapani e Red Cross, and the participation of the Institute Sciascia -Bufalino and the training institution Europe project of Trapani. The same, included in the 2022 Sport Week End Event, kicked off last June 2 and ended yesterday, June 5, in the Trapani town, registering a large number of presences, especially athletes with disabilities.
Running, table tennis, diving, basketball, ferris wheel ride, 5-a-side football, judo and many other activities on the beach characterized a day as hot as it was exciting, which helped raise awareness in the community towards sport open to all and allowed all present to participate and actively promote the culture of accessible sport. Some sporting activities object of the event took place on the field that hosts the beautiful work entitled “Porta del mare”, created by the Bergamo street artist Ale Senso in collaboration with the students of the Liceo Artistico Michelangelo Buonarroti of Trapani, of the Florio Hospitality Institute of Erice and some citizens of San Vito Lo Capo, which has become a significant symbol of the Trapani town.
“When young people practice outdoor sports it is always a great party for San Vito Lo Capo – said Giuseppe Peraino, mayor of San Vito Lo Capo who sponsored the event – and it is particularly exciting to perceive the joy and commitment that is behind every performance. On the pitch there are no barriers and there are no opponents, but boys and girls who want to have fun together, respecting the rules of the game. “Despite the effort for having worked the last 10 days for the most important event organized by the Disabili no Limits team, that of the XXII edition of the” Zero Barriere sport weekend “with over 35 degrees – said Giuseppe Corona, head of organization of the sporting event – I can’t relax and my morbid curiosity is to go and check the numbers of this great organizational effort which was “sport for all Zero Barriere” and which involved the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo (TP ) for 5 days. Over 2000 people were involved – continued Corona – who practiced 10 different disciplines, 65 including sports associations, federations, sports promotion bodies, schools and public institutions that were interested in this sport and inclusion project.
