Colombia National Team: Bréiner Castillo on the process of minor divisions and Alexei Rojas Fedorushchenko | Colombia selection

The Colombian National Team and its lower categories have had enough criticism, where many affirm that the famous generational change is not seen. The pandemic issue interrupted some processes, leaving aside several players, who, without competition, can hardly show all their talent.

The Maurice Revello tournament and the Bolivarian Games are the perfect opportunity, so that the talents do not run away, they can make the desired process in the Colombian National Teams and aim to reach the senior team. It is not a secret that the dream of most of these boys is to represent the tricolor in a World Cup.

One of the former players who has been linked to the processes of the tricolor, in its formative part, is Bréiner Castillo. The exporter, who is also linked to Atlético Nacional, spoke with FUTBOLRED.

Balance of the process of minors in the Colombian National Team: We have been with the Sub 17, unfortunately they could not compete due to the pandemic issue. Then we went to the Sub 20, some 2003-2004. They come with a good process, directed with Héctor Cárdenas and the Federation.

He has had a blank, work, everything facing the South American. The goalkeepers at that age lack things to correct. The disadvantage is the lack of competition, many reach the National Team and only then do they come to compete, that is seen as a difficulty. They are the ones we should target, they are our future.

They will arrive at the 2026 World Cup at the age of 23, I am not saying they will go, but they can be profiled for that World Cup and for 2030. You have to provide them with information, review them, get to know them and have more competition in the clubs.

Alexei Rojas process and comparison of the training processes in Colombia and the United Kingdom: he comes in very well, for his age. We had the Maurice Revello tournament in France, where we have been in 2005, with colleagues in 2003. They wanted to profile him for the Sub 20 the other year, that he arrives with more experience. Now he is in the Bolivarianos, he comes with a great process. Hopefully at Arsenal he continues to mature and grow, he is a very serious boy, focused on his concepts and what he wants for his life.

He works day by day with the idea of being the goalkeeper of the Colombian National Team, it is what he prepares for. That way of being, can lead you to achieve it. If one surrenders to a goal, a dream and works for it, life gives it back. It’s good and we hope that those who are in front of him, we have a generation to choose from and where we can strengthen the position.

Analysis of all positions in the generational change for the future: Colombia in recent years, if there is a position where you have to worry least, it is in central defenders. Every year a player is consolidated and sold to Europe. In the local tournament there are good players in that area, who are consolidating in the first division, in the second. All that helps and that innate, magical talent that one wants to have, like James and Pibe, there are few cases that are consolidated.

Because of the way the youth soccer coaches work, many of these players are lost. They do not like or are not useful in a group. There is talent and very good. The 2003s competed in France with the 2001 and 2002.

They showed character, good game at times, the physical issue showed a difference against. What makes it difficult for us is the non-competition. Previously there was the norm in Colombia, the youth player who started. That helped the players mature. In that perhaps we failed, they should apply it so that the boys can compete and give more to the National Team.
