BASEBALL. As is the tradition in the LBMQ, teams playing in a doubleheader do so on the road against two different teams. It was the Jets’ turn to visit Big Bill and the Expos in Estrie on Sunday (June 5). In the first duel, the Big Bill scored 8 points in the 6e inning after seeing the visitors tie the game.

The hosts’ offense was well balanced as 8 of the 9 batters on the lineup drove in runs as they all got the ball to safety. Mathieu Boutin, Xavier Langlois and Julien Castagnier-Charlebois notably hit a double each for the Big Bill. Vincent Dion and Guillaume Ayotte did the same for Montreal.

The visitors rallied well in their second game of the day, hitting 16 and scoring 18 times, including five in the opening inning. Vincent Dion and Guillaume Ayotte, among others, hit a solo homer each in the visitors’ encounter. Jonathan Raymond replied with 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

The Big Bill will have to wait until Friday (June 10) to play his next game. He will receive a visit from the Sherbrooke Expos, starting at 8 p.m. It is also during this duel that we will withdraw the number of Stéphane Waite.
