Bürstädter judoka successful at tournament in Austria

Four athletes from the 1st Bürstadt Judo Club traveled to the tenth international trade fair city tournament in Dornbirn, Austria. They came back with a successful record.

BÜRSTADT – (red). The 1st Judo Club Bürstadt can look back on a successful participation in the tenth international trade fair city tournament in Dornbirn in Austria. The athletes Katharina Keltjens, Mika Bischoff, Glib Nadyezhda and Anton Krahn met almost 300 participants from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Romania, Hungary and Germany. This competition is fought in weight-related groups with a maximum of five participants.

Katharina Keltjens took the opportunity to start in the U16 and U18. Two wins and two defeats meant 3rd place in their battle group. She was also able to secure first place in the U18.

Glib Nadyezhda was also able to start for Bürstadt for the first time in the U18s. Glib is a judoka who fled from the Ukraine and found training opportunities and new friends at the 1st Judo Club in Bürstadt. He was finally given the go-ahead and he was able to take part in tournaments again – and he was extremely successful with 1st place. For Mika Bischoff it was 2nd place in the end.

Anton Krahn met three opponents from Romania and Italy. He finished the tournament in 3rd place. In the team ranking, the 1st Judo Club secured a respectable 12th place out of 34 participating clubs with only five starts thanks to these successes. The conclusion of trainer Nadine Müller: “A good tournament that offered the opportunity to meet completely different opponents and thus gain new experiences”.
