boosted atmosphere at the opening ceremony

In Saipan, in the Northern Mariana Islands, the opening ceremony of the Pacific mini-Games took place on June 16, at the Oleai sports complex. Nearly 5,000 spectators came to see the 20 delegations from the Pacific parade…

After two years marked by the covid crisis, the event was eagerly awaited by the population of the Mariana Islands.

We had to stay home because of the coronavirus, so here we take the opportunity to go out and have fun!

A warm welcome was reserved for the 20 delegations from all over the Pacific… A great pride for each of the peoples who wear the colors of their Nation.

The three-hour ceremony ended with a magnificent drone show, which represented the nine disciplines of this eleventh edition of the Pacific mini-Games. Only one regret: the absence of the famous Tahitian haka…

Lhe Polynesian delegation is made up of 180 people, including 82 athletes. They are lodged in one of the finest hotels in Saipan – the largest of the fifteen islands of the archipelago under American trusteeship.

The tennis and baseball events have already started. Tahiti is involved in eight of the nine disciplines of the competition and does not participate in the baseball tournament.
