The Bolivian golfer James Arandia qualified for the final of what is considered the oldest golf tournament in the world, The Open, which takes place on the fields of St. Andrews, in Scotland, where it will enter into action this Tuesday.
The Santa Cruz, 23 years old, made it to the world final to which 9,000 athletes from different parts of the world aspired.
“No matter what one does, or what country one is in, I will always give everything to raise the name of my country, Bolivia. No matter the adversity, with perseverance and work we Bolivians can get ahead,” said Arandia.
The Bolivian representative in this important event he also hopes to qualify for all four Grand Slams of world golf and for this he trains between four and six hours a day.
James Arandia started playing this sport at the age of 5 old, on the courses of Mapaizo Golf Club and since then he has toured different countries to become a professional golfer.
At 12 years old he managed to turn his first hole into one at a tournament in Scotland. In Trinidad and Tobago he qualified for the Junior World Master tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) representing Trinidad and Tobago.
He also played in Ghana, Africa. In England he was a student at the Lee Westwood school of golf and then got a scholarship to study in Monterrey, California (USA) where he played College Golf and in 2020 he became a golf professional.
He currently plays three tours in Europe, including the Europro Tour in which he will be competing until the end of this year with the illusion of obtaining a card that allows him to play in the Europro tournaments and the Challenge tour, the latter being played worldwide and in different countries around the world.
