Karim Benzema admits that he is flattered by Lionel Messi winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or. This is an additional motivation for Benzema.
Benzema has had a great season with Real Madrid. He performed brilliantly by making 44 goals and 15 assists from 46 appearances in all competitions this season.
This Frenchman became an important actor behind Madrid’s success in closing the season with a LaLiga title and Champions League champion. This is complemented by Benzema with individual awards after bringing the LaLiga top scorer title with 27 goals and the Champions League top scorer with 15 goals.
Benzema’s brilliant appearance has made him considered by many as the most deserving of the 2022 Ballon d’Or title. The most Ballon d’Or winner with six titles, namely Lionel Messi, even agrees with this assumption.
“There’s no doubt (who will win the 2022 Ballon d’Or), it’s clear that Benzema has been outstanding this season and won the Champions League, with incredible performances in every game since the last 16,” Messi told TyC Sports.
“I think the winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or is for sure (Benzema),” he continued.
Messi’s statement makes Benzema flattered. The 34-year-old said he was happy that Messi had promoted him to win the Ballon d’Or. This also makes Benzema even more motivated to continue to give his best.
“I heard the words from Messi and it made me very happy, very satisfied because it came from a player like him. It gave me motivation to do more things,” Karim Benzema was quoted as saying by Football Espana.
