Bayer 04 Leverkusen have made the next signing clear: Madi Monamay is coming to Leverkusen from KRC Genk, where he is initially scheduled for the U19s. In 2019, the central defender moved to the eighth table of the past season in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. At just 15, the Belgium U-16 international was already playing in the UEFA Youth League, the youth version of the Champions League.

“We are delighted to have signed another top talent in Madi Monamay. He has been courted by many top European clubs,” said Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes to club media. “Last season, as a 15-year-old, he already impressed at a high level in the Youth League and also gained his first experience in the men’s division in Genk’s U-21 team,” continued the ex-professional.

Thomas Eichin, head of the Werkself academy, spoke highly of the new signing. “He is a very intelligent central defender in terms of play, who is already very mature and composed for his young age. He will be a great asset for us,” explained Eichin.
