Basse-Ham dreams of being given the wheel

Maryse Blondel discovered badminton late in life, around the age of 40, in 1998. “It’s a sport that can be learned at any age. We have members over 50 at the club. The oldest is 67 years old. In the other direction, it is from 5 years old that you can come and hold a racket at the Basse-Ham Badminton club. The activity is available for all categories and sections. With 245 licensees, the site’s traffic is assured.

Rising from the ashes

But the offer has not always been so rich. “Before, we only had five pitches, no employees and there were very few slots. There were 125 licensees maximum, just 150, once, in 2012”.

Then the municipal gymnasium fell victim to a fire, leading to new life for the club. But first, “for six years, we really struggled, the time for the experts and insurance to pass and another gymnasium to be built”.
