Basketball. Invited by the Federation, ESL Brest in women’s N3 next season! – Basketball

Informed by the federation of their possibility of going up to NF3 next season, the leaders of the Étoile Saint-Laurent de Brest immediately replied in the affirmative, thereby even rewarding the beautiful year of the girls of the coach Yannick Stephan.

Why did the ESL benefit from this wildcard?

Let’s say that the federation takes into account the sports results, but also the rank and, certainly, the financial capacity of the club to evolve in National 3. There, we will not have an exorbitant cost in terms of travel since there has five other Breton teams in Quimper, Ploufragan and three in Rennes.

Sportingly, is it rather fair because of your final ranking?

We can say it like that, because we finished joint first. Afterwards, there is also a logic over the last five years where we have always progressed, from one year to the next, in the ranking. The work of the girls also sees its reward in this accession.

Does this change your recruiting perspective?

First of all, I am happy to announce that all the girls are leaving for a new year. Then, I left with a view to a single reinforcement for the Prénationale. From now on, we will endeavor to recruit two, or even, perhaps, three additional players to be armed as well as possible in order to obtain a maintenance as quickly as possible.

Do you also want to expand your staff?

I find that it takes more skills and outside views around the pennant team. So I’m going to create a cell of five to six people, including Bruno Vigouroux who remains my assistant. Their role will focus on logistics, the link with the reserve, a different basketball look than mine… etc. The idea is to optimize team performance.
