Baseball: Split for the Elmshorn Alligators vs. Wild Farmers II

The Elmshorners have to settle for a win and a defeat against the Dohren Wild Farmers II in their home EBE Ballpark. Guests can count on Premier League support.

Dennis Scherfisee lost his appetite. On Sunday (June 26) the Elmshorn Alligators second division baseball team played their home game against the Dohren Wild Farmers II – and the EBE Ballpark offered a matching North American favorite dish from Fleischerei Fock. Allis’ head coach called the “Burger day” campaign a complete success. “The burgers were well received, in the end everything was sold out,” said Scherfisee.

The joy of the delicacies played only a minor role for Scherfisee that afternoon. Two victories against the guests from Lower Saxony should be made and the series of successes should be extended – but nothing came of it.

“This is definitely a setback for us. Now we have to win all of the remaining six games.”

After a 17:11 at the start, the second match against the Farmers resulted in a 5:8 bankruptcy. “This is definitely a setback for us. Now we have to win all of the remaining six games,” Scherfisee continues to believe in making the play-offs. The first five teams qualify for the final round – Elmshorn is currently in sixth place.

The duel on Sunday was followed by numerous viewers on site and up to 1300 viewers on the Twitch streaming platform. They saw a mixed start from the home side. Sören Entress initially stood on Pitchers Mound for the Elmshorners and suffered a few hits. However, the Alligators didn’t let themselves be disturbed by the deficit and could rely on Dennis Röpke, who repeatedly had good contacts at bat and worked his way from base to base. The Elmshorners turned the game around and bagged victory number three in a row.

Elmshorn has problems with his shot

In the second game, Scherfisee initially trusted American Luke Turner as pitcher. Turner kept the Elmshorners in the race well, but towards the end the arm got a bit heavy and Scherfisee brought on Lars Eichen. It shouldn’t be because of the pitcher that the Elmshorner’s winning streak broke. Rather, the quality of the Wild Farmers prevailed. “Dohren came with numerous first division players. That was noticeable towards the end,” said the Elmshorn coach.

The gaze is now forward. Next Saturday, July 2nd, two wins at the Hannover Regents are essential.
