July 2017. This is the date to which we had to go back to find traces of a Swiss player better placed than Roger Federer in the ATP rankings. It was Stanislas Wawrinka.
This Monday, June 20, 2022, the man with 20 Grand Slam titles drops 28 ranks following the loss of his 250 points from the Halle tournament. He finds himself 96e world, just behind his compatriot Henri Laaksonen, the new Swiss number 1.
Note that Roger Federer, whose return is scheduled for the fall, will no longer have any points after Wimbledon. On July 11, he will disappear completely from the rankings, almost 25 years after his appearance.
