Andy Murray defeats Nick Kyrgios and is a finalist in Stuttgart

Andy Murray will play his first final on grass since winning the Wimbledon title in 2016 after winning the Nick Kyrgios in straight sets in the semifinals of the Stuttgart Open this saturday.

The British winner of three Grand Slam showed glimpses of his best by beating Kyrgios 7-6(5), 6-2 and defend your serve throughout the match.

“A lot of ups and downs, but I persisted and worked and was able to get to another (grass final). I’m proud of the effort I put in,” Murray said. “I was a little bit more solid in the tiebreak. I asked the questions.”

Murray maintained his good form heading into Wimbledon by upsetting Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals on Friday, his first win in six years against a top-five ranked opponent.

The other finalist is second-seeded Italian Matteo Berrettini, who defeated Oscar Otte 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5). in a laughed match without service breaks. Berrettino saved the point in the first set tiebreak and needed three match points to clinch victory.

Murray and Berrettini have met twice, with a win each. The Italian prevailed on the pitch at the Queen’s Club last year.
