Aguada announced the departure of García Morales and the player said that the leadership dismissed him again with a contract

The second cycle of Leandro García Morales in Aguada closed this Thursday after the club announced on their social networks the departure of the 41-year-old player.

“We announce the end of the participation of our player Leandro García Morales in our Institution. After 6 seasons, 2 leagues, 2 final four and many unforgettable moments, there is nothing left but to eternally thank one of the most important players in the history of the Club and the most emblematic for the last generations. Thank you Lea!”, Said the water carrier.

An hour later, García Morales provided a forceful response that he later qualified by stating that he understood the decision of the leadership now chaired by Daniel Olivera after the death of Alejandro Mazzeo: “Just like in my first stage at the club, the Aguada leadership decided to fire me even though I was under contract. I didn’t want to leave at that time and I didn’t want to leave now, but I understand the decision of the leadership and I thank them for trusting in my work all these years. I also want to thank all the aguateros fans for the endless displays of affection throughout all these years. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart!”

García Morales, educated in Biguá, arrived in Aguada in 2012-2013 and he conquered the Uruguayan League when Aguada had been 39 years without winning a title. The following season he was eliminated in the semifinals by Defensor Sporting and before the start of the third season he tore his knee ligaments in Puerto Rico. He recovered in record time and reached the playoffs where his team was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Hebraica Macabi.

adducing economic reasons, the leadership then decided to terminate his contract and the player finished in Hebraica Macabi where he won two consecutive leagues remaining in the quarterfinals in his third season.

Then he emigrated to Argentina to play in Instituto and when he was returning to Uruguay by car he suffered a car accident.

After a recovery process, returned to Aguada for the 2019-2020 season in which the rojiverde went in search of the two-time championship, something he achieved in the finals against Trouville, in February 2021 after months of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the 2021 League the team, against all odds, was eliminated in the play-in by Capitol. This season, the water carrier eliminated Goes, a classic rival and number 1 in the regular phase, in the quarterfinals but then succumbed 3-0 in the semifinals against Peñarol.

García Morales ended up playing undercover after a season in which injuries had him mistreating.
