A unique place in Wallonia: an old tower, perfectly renovated, allows archers to shoot… vertically (video)

You are certainly familiar with archery, an Olympic sport practiced by a good number of followers through the over a hundred clubs across our country.

If the shooting is generally done horizontally, a place in Wallonia allows you to do it… vertically. In the village of Harchies, in Hainaut, an emblematic building has just been completely renovated with this in mind. The “Covered Perch” is ready to welcome archers.

We’re going to call on not only local archers, but also all goodwill from outside because there are still quite a few archers. We will try to revive, with these old sports, this Covered Perch. That’s the point“, details Roger Vanderstraeten, the mayor of the town.

In total, the work will have cost 800,000 euros.
