A million is not enough. Rakow wants a bigger buyout for Latvia’s best footballer Gutkovski – Football

In February, Gutkowski extended his contract with Rakow until the summer of 2024. The striker of the Latvian national team scored 10 goals in 29 matches in the “Extra Class” championship last season, but in the previous 29 seasons his account had seven punches.

The 27-year-old Gutkowski has helped the Rakow team make the biggest success in the club’s history in the past two seasons – triumphing in the Polish Cup in 2022 and 2021, as well as winning second place in the Extra Class Championship twice.

Rakow club wants to extend the contract with the Latvian footballer according to the 3 + 2 system. Namely, for three years (until 2025) with the option cooperation to continue for another two seasons.

“We are currently negotiating, they want to sign a new contract with me here. We offer to extend it for 3 + 2 years. We have just started talking, so nothing more is known. We will see how it will be next,” Gutkovskis said.

However, it is not yet agreed whether the club will have the option to extend the contract for another two seasons after the third year, or whether the decision will be reciprocal with the footballer.

“As we will talk – let’s see if it will be a club option or a mutual choice,” added the Latvian footballer.

Gutkowski has spent the last seven seasons in Poland. He is satisfied with the situation in the Rakow team, as the club is competitive and fights for trophies locally.

However, he admits that he would like to play elsewhere at a higher level. In his career outside Latvia, Gutkowski has played exclusively in Polish clubs.

“Of course, I would like to go somewhere further and try to play at a higher level. There have been discussions, but Rakow doesn’t want to let me go because he wants a lot of money for me,” Gutkovsky said.

Gutkovskis and Raimonds Krollis are valued at 1.5 million euros in the “Transfermarkt.com” database, which provides an approximate, but not always accurate, insight into the market value of football players. The third most valuable among Latvian football players is Roberts Uldriķis with one million euros.

Gutkowski revealed that an Israeli club has offered one million euros, but Rakow has rejected the buyout because he wants to receive an even higher amount.

A more detailed interview with the best football player of Latvia in 2021 will be published on Saturday, July 2. In a conversation with TVNET, Gutkovskis revealed the approximate amount of redemption “Rakow” wants to receive, as well as told about the preparations for the next season and the recent flourishing of the Latvian national team.
