Every athlete’s greatest dream – to participate in the Olympics – becomes a novel and it also encourage a community on the slopes of Mount Everest that practices judo to dream big. Taking up the challenge, as in judo as in life, means learning to get back up after every failure. Francesco, the protagonist of this story, knows this well. Through his human and sporting experiences, climbing the peaks with him and rising from the depths, the philosophy of judo gets explored. Judo is much more than a sport, it is a lifestyle, a passion that pervades down to the bones a sort of idea of the world. Our thought dreams should be shared. We believe in the challenge of the individual that inspires the collective one as a consequence. And you, are you one of us?
Why a judo novel? | Why a judo novel?
“Inside to the bone” tells the human and sporting adventures of Francesco Marconi, an atypical judoka in terms of age and career. Inside each of us there is always a dream that pushes to come true and our athlete, in a rush of self-affirmation, sees for himself the podium of the Olympics. A very hard goal, which tests his body and all the affections sacrificed to training. An effort that will lead him to know his own limits, to re-evaluate many acquired convictions. But above all to understand what his path really is and to find a future that he would not have imagined: the “path of compliance” can really offer everyone a different way to interpret the reality. And for those who have never approached it, assuming that you break tablets, meditate or bow with your hands together – well, here, this may be just the right way to discover something new.
‘Dentro fino alle ossa’ (“Inside to the bones”) tells the human and sporting adventures of Francesco Marconi, an atypical judoka in terms of age and career. Cosa c’entra l’Everest (e questa campagna)? | What does Everest (and this campaign) have to do with it?
Judo is not just a sport, but rather a different interpretation to relate to oneself and to others. That is why it is of such significant importance to the kids who live at the foot of Everest, an objectively difficult and different environment from ours. The pandemic has also hit them hard, depriving them of tourism, the main economic resource that allowed them to go beyond the subsistence threshold. For this reason we have decided to allocate a part of this collection to support of Nepalese judo schools: to offer these guys the stability of an educational environment adequate to their needs, full of continuous opportunities for physical, moral and cultural development. We share this campaign with the Olympian Sabrina Filzmoser, which for some time has dedicated itself to developing projects in favor of the young people of these populations and is our testimonial! A book with the soundtrack? Meaning what? | A book with the soundtrack?
The book has a format of 13 × 21 cm and has almost 400 pages, printed on ivory paper. There are 22 chapters, which jump between present and flashbacks, telling the story of Francesco and his friends. But the most curious thing is there soundtrack! Yes, because in this novel the music has the same importance and strength as the words. We could attach audio CDs or usb sticks with mp3s … but we thought about the practicality of mobile phones and the simplicity of frame the qr-codes that open each chapter… Bob Dylan, The Doors, Nirvana, Simon & Garfunkel, Dido, Avicii and many, many others just a tap away to make reading even more complete and immersive!

He has always practiced sport and in particular has been captain of Judo Kuroki Tarcento for more than ten years. In 2021 he won the Italian Nage No Kata Championship, paired with Alessandro Cugini. A great lover of the mountains, he loves to venture with his father along little-traveled tracks. He reads everywhere, even in the most inappropriate places.
