Yankees prospect Anthony Volpe hopes to continue growing before making his MLB debut

Although he hasn’t been doing well on the wood in recent games, New York Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe is asking for a runway to play in the major leagues with his club.

Currently the slugger does not have a good average with his wood, his performances have been good but the contact has been nil.

However, the general manager of his club in the milb (AAA) gives a vote of confidence to the 21-year-old player who still has a lot to develop.

“On some occasions where he wasn’t putting everything together, or when he wasn’t just squashing the ball like we saw all of last year, he’s still competitive.” said the hierarch taking care of the player like a precious stone.

And how not to take care of it? If since he is playing in the Minor Leagues he has averaged .265 with 32 homers and 111 RBIs in what becomes one of the most promising in the Big Apple.

Baseball America’s leading player “appraiser” ranked him the 10th-best prospect in the minors and the best overall in the Yankees organization at the start of the season. In other words, he is someone that Aaron Boone should take into account in case an infielder fails or is injured within the big club.

Volpe has his hopes up for the New York Yankees themselves, to the point where they’ve been picky about what he can show on the field. On it there is an arsenal of important data to try to correct what happens.

“What reassures Volpe and a lot of these guys is that once we get more consistent information, we get higher quality information that we can trust against them, I think the guys on this team and in this clubhouse are so competitive. Like any other person”, said Jake Hirst hitting coach of his ninth.

Hirst explained that Volpe’s slump problem is due to opposing pitchers making the necessary adjustments to be able to attack him more effectively. However, he has been totally patient inside the plate in that he has received more walks than expected.
