Wout van Aert will not be crowned Belgian time trial champion for the 3rd time on June 23. Van Aert confirms to Wielerflits that he is still on an internship with Jumbo-Visma.
Wout van Aert became Belgian time trial champion in 2019 and 2020, last year the preparation for the Tour de France was given priority and he missed the title fight in Ingelmunster.
Also this year he will not relieve Yves Lampaert. Van Aert confirms to Wielerflits that he will not go to Gavere on June 23.
“And I think that’s a shame myself,” says Van Aert. “But the BC is going through a difficult period.”
“In that week, together with the teammates of Jumbo-Visma, I am still on an altitude training course for the Tour de France. It is not obvious to break it down earlier.”
