The press in England has made this case a mediatic bomb that involves two great referents of the soccer team. Wayne Rooney, his wife and Jamie Vardy and his wife are involved in a legal battle that could have a compensation of up to 3 million euros.
The affair began when Rooney’s wife Coleen McLoughlin accused Rebekah Miranda of leaking information for The Sun newspaper, in addition to a column she had in the media outlet. The other party countersued for defamation, with a request for compensation of three million euros.
Rooney has already appeared, the former captain and current coach of Derby County, assured that striker Jamie Vardy’s partner dedicated himself to making video calls to the players’ hotel with such regularity that “he almost became part of the team”, in the middle of Eurocopa 2016.
The accusation happens because Mrs. Vardy was constantly doing FaceTime with her husband to obtain information, her lawyer, David Sherborne, intervened in full trial to tell the judge that the false stories had only been seen by one account, making it clear that the amount for defamation reaches 3 million pounds sterling.
The matter goes further, during the trial a leak of intimacy was mentioned in the 2014 Rio World Cup and an exit by Rooney, apparently driving drunk in 2017.
