However, things are different with the jersey of a national team, including the Indonesian national team.

Yes, the national team jersey is empty from the logo or the name of a trademark.

As is known, there are only chest and back numbers, names, national team logos, and apparel logos that are plastered on the national team shirts.

In fact, a federation of a country can take a trademark to become a sponsor.

On the other hand, sponsors can increase the inflow of funds into the federation’s coffers.

However, why is that? Why don’t the team jerseys have a sponsor?

This is due to the rules of the World Football Federation (FIFA) which only allow the federation logo or the flag of a country and the apparel logo.

According to FIFA, a country’s national team squad has received a stream of state money. In this case, the Indonesian national team gets funds from the state budget through PSSI.

On the other hand, FIFA does not benefit if the federation cooperates with sponsors in the national team jersey.

FIFA also wants to maintain and protect the exclusivity of the official sponsor of a tournament.

Although FIFA prohibits sponsorship of jerseys, they do not prohibit a country’s federation from cooperating with one or more trademarks.

A country’s federation can still hold sponsors through pitchside advertisements or training jerseys.

Likewise, uploading photos or videos on the official account of a federation of a country. FIFA still gives the flexibility to display a logo or trademark name.

The most obvious prohibition is the presence of a sponsor in a country’s national team match jersey.
