What Unions Schützenhilfe means for RB

Bayer Leverkusen has qualified for the Champions League, and 1. FC Köln and Union Berlin will also be playing internationally next season. The only question is: who will secure the fourth ticket for the premier class: RB or Freiburg?

RB has to go to Bielefeld

By Saturday afternoon, the SC was one point ahead of the Saxons. The people from Breisgau are still doing that, but because they lost 4-1 to Union Berlin, RB can overtake them with a draw against Augsburg in the home game on Sunday evening (7.30 p.m.) due to the better goal difference.

If they win, the sixth in the table would have a two-point lead over the sports club, which has to go to Leverkusen on the last day of the game. RB, in turn, travels to the relegation candidate Arminia Bielefeld.

On the penultimate day, Leverkusen won 4-2 (1-2) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Thanks to the success, Union is again safe in the European Cup, just like 1. FC Köln despite the 0:1 (0:1) home defeat against VfL Wolfsburg. FC benefited from the neighborhood help from Leverkusen in Hoffenheim.

Cologne international

In Freiburg, Grischa Prömel (11′) gave the visitors an early lead before Christopher Trimmel (30′) and Sheraldo Becker (41′) made things clear before the half-time whistle. After the change, Lucas Höler (59th) made the connection before Andras Schäfer (90th) scored the last goal of the game.

Cologne could also celebrate despite the defeat against Wolfsburg by an ex-player: Yannick Gerhardt (43rd) scored the winning goal for Wolfsburg, whose goal was disallowed by Lukas Nmecha (55th) for offside.
