What makes Sebastian Rode even more valuable

Sebastian Rode almost always reacted the same way when he was asked about the possible end of his career during the past football season. The 31-year-old captain of Eintracht Frankfurt did not dodge the questions, but promised that his career as a professional could be over by the end of his contract in Frankfurt on July 1, 2024 at the latest. Until then, the defensive midfielder, who has had multiple knee surgeries – the last in August 2021 – is hoping his “body will keep up”. Realism is one of Rode’s qualities.

And so it will not have surprised him that after winning the Europa League with Eintracht, he was asked again whether this might be the right time to resign – true to the motto that you should stop when it’s most beautiful is. But Rode, who is full of energy, still has big plans for the Hessians: participation in the Champions League. He wants to savor this special experience as captain on the pitch in the new season, even though he has already played in the premier class with Bayern Munich. In view of the beautiful prospects, Rode is not thinking of resigning.
