“I’m very happy for the Phille. Since he took over, Monaco has won 10 league matches out of 16. He wins all his big games,” begins Wesley Sonck.

“Phenomenal”, says Sonck, “certainly because the chairman wanted to continue with the coarse brush two months ago. How much time do you still have as a coach?”
“But Phille always remains calm”, says Sonck, who played football with him at Club Brugge. “Even when things don’t go well, he stays positive. Always.”
“We once lost 1-4 to Standard at home. Even then Phille remained positive. I find that unbelievable.”
One of Monaco’s growth brilliance comes from our country. Eliot Matazo is a 20-year-old youth international from Brussels who wants to make a career in midfield.
“I coached him at the U18. He is technically good, he can dribble and he is good in a duel”, Sonck sums up his qualities.
“And Matazo is also a nice and honest boy to work with. Now we have to be patient, he is only 20.”
