The Mavericks beat Phoenix’s Dog 111: 101 (37:25, 31:31, 19:22, 24:23) in a draw to a four-win victory in the Western Conference semifinals.

In the first two games of the series, “Suns” won on the field, but now the Mavericks have succeeded in two home games in a row.

Bertāns spent less than 13 minutes on the field, during which he scored 12 points (3p. 4/6) and won one rebound.

The Latvian basketball player managed a successful cut at the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter. He hit his first four long shots in a row.

In the Mavericks, Luka Dončič scored 26 points, although he managed to hit only one of the 10 long shots. Slovenia also has 11 assists.

The winners were Dorian Finny-Smith, who scored 24 points, a new career record in the play-off tournament – he attacked the basket from a distance (3p. 8/12). Jane Branson added 18 points.

The Mavericks team did an excellent long shot in 20 out of 44 thirds. Meanwhile, opponents hit only nine of the 25 three-pointers.

Dog leader Devin Bucker scored 35 points, while experienced matchmaker Chris Paul earned six points and left the field prematurely with just five points.

The Mavericks took the lead in the first quarter of the match, winning 12 points in the first half of the game. Later, the hosts reached +17 leadership.

In the first half, the hosts stood out with excellent accuracy behind the perimeter (58%), which allowed them to strengthen their leadership. Dončičs and Bukers, the leaders of both teams, quickly got their first technical notes.

Bertan entered the game two and a half minutes before the end of the first quarter and he was also twice as accurate from a distance, reaching 37:25 with the second pass – the result with which the first 12 minutes ended.

Rūjienis continued the next quarter in the same rhythm and was unmistakable the next two times when he performed long shots – 43:27. In the last eight minutes of the first half, the Latvian did not play, but the Dalas kept the lead before going on a break (68:56).

Paul, one of the key players of the “Dog”, quickly broke into the problem of notes, breaking the rules for the fourth time at the end of the first half, but at the beginning of the second half he was in the fifth violation.

Bertan entered the game three minutes before the end of the third quarter in the second half, but was not attacked and was replaced at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Dallas continued to lead, and less than nine minutes before the end of regular time, the opponents’ situation was complicated by Paul’s sixth remark, which meant that his match was over.

The “Dog” didn’t play it and the Mavericks celebrated the victory. Bertāns was also in the last minute, who did not take a long shot for the second time in the match.

The Dallas Mavericks beat Utah’s Jazz 4-2 in the first round and reached the second round for the first time since 2011. The best team in the main tournament, the Phoenix Dog, won the Pelicans of New Orleans with the same result.

The Mavericks won 52 of 82 games in the regular tournament and finished fourth in the Western Conference, while the Dog was first in the league with 64 victories.
