This is the torch that anticipates the Special Olympics
VERCELLI (19.05.2022 – 17.36) – The Torch Run, the torch that anticipates the Special Olympics will reach the heart of Vercelli, Piazza Cavour on May 20 at 6pm, where the tripod lighting ceremony will take place.
The Torch Run announces, during its 44 stages in 20 Italian regions, the XXXVII National Summer Games Special Olympicswhich will be held in Turin starting from 5 June when the torch will arrive for the Opening Ceremony, at the “Grande Torino” Olympic Stadium.
“The Municipal Administration immediately embraced the initiative” – he explains Milly Cometti, fiduciary of CONI – “The athletes of the Rosa Blu Association will carry the torch, which will start from the Parliament of West Sesia, will cross the territory of the Vercelli rice fields, will pass by the Basilica of Sant’Andrea and will arrive in Piazza Cavour where the tripod will be ready for ignition. The sports associations and masks of the city will also be waiting for the torch ”.
“Our boys will be the ones to carry the torch” – he says Nicoletta Storchio president of the Rosa Blu association – «They are athletes who love what they do and always respond favorably to all initiatives».
Andreaby Rosa Blu, this morning enunciated the oath of the Special Olympics Athlete: “May I win, but if I don’t succeed I can try with all my strength.”
Alongside the Rosa Blu athletes during the course: Land artillery regiment on horseback, West Sesia irrigation association, Cassa di Risparmio di Vercelli, Panathlon Club Vercelli, All Blacks Errea, ASD Minibasket Vercelli Bugs, Volley Vercelli ASD, ASD Basket Club Vercelli Rices, ASD Female Basketball, ASD Atletica 78, GSD Canadà Vercelli, CUS Piemonte Orientale, Vercelli Dance Academy, Baseball Softball Vercelli, ASD body Planet Tennis Crepaldi, Pro Vercelli Fencing Association, ASD Libertas Vercelli Gymnastics, Pro Vercelli 1892 Gymnastics, ASD Sudsakorn Muay Thai Gym.
To accompany the athletes for a stretch of road, the Three Towers motorcycle club in Trino with its wonderful Harley Davidson.
The event is organized in collaboration with the State Police, the Piedmont Region, the Municipality of Vercelli, CONI, the Rosa Blu Sports Association.
