Vanhaezebrouck hopes for the support of other clubs in the face of his possible new sanction

The La Gantoise coach also thinks that the case goes beyond his personal case. “What else is there to do but raise the issue?” says HVH, who hopes for open support from other clubs.

The prosecution announced earlier this week that they wanted to impose additional sanctions on Vanhaezebrouck after his dismissal during the match against KRC Genk. The Cup-winning coach has already been suspended for one game against Charleroi this season. He now faces a new effective suspension and a fine. The Buffalos confirmed that these are two complaints for having criticized the Referee Department, the cell of the federation in charge of arbitration.

La Gantoise faces FC Mechelen tomorrow / Saturday on the third day of the European playoffs. Vanhaezebrouck returned to this question during Friday’s press briefing. “I am not afraid of the sanctions that are claimed against me,” said the Flandien. “Apparently, nothing more can be said. Last weekend, I said nothing, and there were five crucial errors in five games. The problem goes beyond La Gantoise. What remains? anything else to do but raise the issue?”

“I get a lot of reactions and the other clubs support me,” continues the Gantois coach. “It would be nice if they did it so openly. Giving a signal together is stronger. Fans from all clubs aren’t blind either.”
