UEFA has taken this decision “with the aim of ensuring that there are no problems in the next competitions”, according to the same body. In the men’s national team, Russia will not play in the Nations League next season and will be relegated to League B. In addition, the under-21 team will not be able to fight for a place in the European Championship. Matches against Russia will be declared null and void. As for the women, they will not participate in the final phase of the European Championship, their place will be occupied by Portugal, nor will they choose to qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
