Two Canadian champions at the Baie-Comeau judo club

Two proud bearers of the Baie-Comeau judo club were crowned Canadian champions in their category at the Canadian championship in the discipline. They are Samuel Roberge-Poitras and Jean-François Côté.

Samuel Roberge-Poitras had a perfect course of three victories in as many fights in the under 42 kilos in the U16 category (under 16), which gave him the title of Canadian champion in his first appearance at this competition. .

The other national champion of the Baie-Comeau club is veteran Jean-François Côté, undefeated in four fights at over 81 kilos. In the final, the one who returned to competition after a long absence faced another Nord-Côtier, Danny Bouchard from the Fermont club.

The Baie-Comois club also has another medalist, Caroline Lessard, among veterans aged 30 and over. She won bronze in the under 70 kg category, although she usually ends up in the under 57 kg category. Julie Poitras was also part of this class.

Among the other competitors of the local club, Machiel Talbot (U16, -46 kg) ended this championship with a victory and two defeats.

As for the U18s, Emylia Lavoie-Paredes (+70 kg) has acquired invaluable experience at this tournament despite two defeats in as many outings. Finally, Vincent Roberge-Poitras, who now trains in Boucherville, finished seventh in this category, as well as ninth in the U21s.
