Rosario 2022 experienced another vibrant, exciting and crowded day. With eight disciplines in competition, this Thursday seven sports made their debut in the clusters and two of them handed out medals.
The Argentine delegation continues adding medals and demonstrating the good level in which they arrived at the Games in the different disciplines. He added seven medals in Athletics and one in Duathlon. Additionally, in the team competitions of the different sports, qualification to the semifinal stages was ensured in both branches: Hockey 5, Beach Handball and Futsal.

The day began with the Duathlon competitions, with free admission. First, the medals in the Women’s Individual Sprint were disputed with a clear victory by Julia Mercaldi for Brazil. He was followed by Renata Soria from Ecuador and Dominga Jácome from Chile.
On the men’s side, Brazil and Ecuador also repeated their positions on the podium, represented by Vinicius Avi Santana and Juan Sebastián Domínguez, respectively. While the bronze went to Argentina, with Luciano Frías.
Badminton kicked off with elimination rounds from Newell’s Old Boys club. The first elimination rounds were played in the three categories that compete in these Games: women’s, men’s and mixed.
Boxing, in Pavilion C of the La Rural Cluster, advanced in the elimination round with Argentines Luciano Amaya (63-69 kg male), Daniela Herrera (57-60 female) and Milagros Quinquinte (54-57 kg female) as protagonists.
In the Hippodrome Cluster, Hockey 5 had its first group stage day with two Argentine victories in both men and women. The other great favorite of the competition, with chances of medals, is Chile, which both in male and female began its participation on the right foot, falling only with local competitors.
Different disciplines of Athletics were launched with attractive competitions. At the Jorge Newbery Municipal Stadium, the semifinals were played in the men’s 110-meter hurdles and the women’s 400-meter sprint. Long Jump, Javelin Throw, 100-meter dash, and 1,500-meter (in both branches) awarded medals with a clear dominance of Argentina and Ecuador, which added seven and five medals, respectively.
Another of the sports that debuted this Thursday is the Skateboarding, which takes place on Paseo 21 of the Parque Único Suramericano and is one of the main attractions for young people. In the Men’s and Women’s Street qualifying rounds, Brazil had good performances with its athletes, who placed in both categories among the top three.
With the stands of the Provincial club filled with the public, Futsal had its second day. After Thursday’s matches, two teams already secured qualification for Saturday’s semifinals by winning both matches: Argentina and Brazil. This Friday the remaining matches of the group stage will take place and on Saturday the definitions between the best four will arrive.
The Picadero de La Rural arena once again received athletes. On this occasion, beach handball debuted with nine men’s and women’s matches that are already beginning to demonstrate the superiority of Brazil and Argentina in both disciplines.
