The men’s basketball team of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua had its first stumble in its presentation at the UACJ 2022 National Universiade when it fell dramatically to the representative of Cetys by final score of 78 points to 75, in a match of many emotions mainly at the end of it.
The university squad led by Alfonso “Pocho” Araiza started the game erratically, falling into the game proposed by the rival who, based on speed, were able to lose control of the defensive back of the Chihuahuans to dominate it in the first period of the game by a part of 17-12.
For the second quarter, the situation partially evened out, as both teams scored 15 points each, the rivals maintaining the advantage to go to halftime break by a score of 32-27.
In the third quarter, and taking advantage of several offensive rebounds, the Cetys team increased its advantage on the board at the Josué Neri Santos gym in the border city to be ahead with a difference of 58 to 48. For the last period, the Uach reaction of convincingly with baskets that came close on the scoreboard as they dominated this period by 27-20 but it did not reach them in the final seconds and they were defeated by 78-75.
For this Tuesday, the Uach will face the Universidad Modelo de Mérida in a match that will start at 7:00 p.m. on the same stage, with the obligation to obtain victory if it wants to keep its chances of accessing the next round alive.
