The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, and the Councilor for Sports, Daniel Rivas, have received the Swedish national youth badminton team at the Town Hall, which these days is preparing at the “Enrique López Cuenca” Sports City to participate in the next World Junior Badminton Championship 2022, which will be held in October in Santander.
Armijo thanked the athletes and the technical team for their commitment to Nerja for this concentration, wishing them to enjoy the experience of practicing badminton, in first class facilities, with wonderful weather and in a privileged environment. “From the City Council we bet a lot on sport. We believe that it is the best way to help youth and to have a society formed in values”, the councilor has transferred to the Swedish team.
These young people between 17 and 19 years old are carrying out their training in the town through the “Nerja, Sport and Tourism” program with which it is sought to attract athletes and teams by offering facilities in the use of municipal sports facilities and advantages in the accommodation. In addition, they are doing part of their training on our beaches, and they are also going to carry out different tourist visits, including the Cueva de Nerja.
For his part, the person in charge of organizing the concentration, Per Linell, thanked the City Council and the Department of Sports for the good reception they are having in the municipal sports facilities, as well as in the town.
