The most successful week in Turkish sports history

Turkey left its mark on international organizations in many different branches of sports in the week when the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day was celebrated. Anadolu Efes won the Euroleague championship in basketball and Vakıfbank CEV Champions League in volleyball. In the World Women’s Boxing Championship, our athletes marked the organization with 5 gold and 1 bronze medals and won the championship as a team.

OUR BREAST RISE

We made history with 9 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals in total at the European Taekwondo and Para Taekwondo Championships held in England. Etimesgut Belediye became champion in Amputee Football Champions League. In the European Junior Rowing Championship, 2 European championships came from our nationals.

WE ARE THE GREATEST IN THE WORLD AS A TEAM

We put on a show at the Women’s World Boxing Championship hosted by Istanbul. 7 of the 12 athletes who took the ring in the championship managed to get on the podium. National athletes went down in history with 5 gold and 2 bronze medals, while the Women’s National Boxing Team became the world champion.

5TH CHAMPIONSHIP FROM VAKIFBANK

Vakifbank, which won a rematch this time from Imoco Volley, which it lost in the final of the CEV Champions League last year, reached a happy ending for the 5th time in this organization. Our representative, the team that won the Champions League the most, received its 11th trophy in the international arena. Etimesgut Municipality Amputee Sports Club reached a happy end in the Amputee Football Champions League held in Poland. Defeating Manchester City 7-1, Ol Jouy Le Moutier 7-0, Sporting AMP Football 10-1, Flamencos Amputados 7-0, our representative passed the host Wisla Krakow 5-2 in the final. reached for the cup.

6- ROWING

2 EUROPEAN GOLD FROM YOUTH

We won 2 gold medals at the European Junior Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy. In the young men’s four single-steer class, the national team managed to become the European champion. Ahmet Ali Kabadayı-Halil Kaan Köroğlu duo brought gold medals with Turkey in the young men’s doubles category.

7- SCHOOL SPORTS

They returned to school with medals

Another heart-warming news for Turkey came at the World School Sports Olympics organized by the International School Sports Federation (ISF) in France. National athletes won a total of 92 medals, 25 gold, 25 silver and 42 bronze.
