The most important things to know about SLAC and FAP are expected in BAL 2022

Seydou Legacy Athlétique Club (SLAC) is one of eight teams in Kigali looking for a team that will make history by winning the tournament in its second year.

In addition to SLAC, the Kigali Arena will also feature Forces Armées et Police Basketball (FAP, FAP Yaoundé) which has also secured a ticket to play the 2022 BAL.

Seydou Legacy Athletic Club (SLAC)

SLAC is the longest-serving team since its inception in 2004 in the City of Conakry and plays at the Palais des Sports du Stade du Stade du 28 September.

In its 18-year tenure, SLAC has won six Guinean Championships, including the latest in 2021. The first took place in 2015.

The team is led by Abass Issaoui, who has won six league titles, three of which he has won in a row (2015, 2016, 2017).

Overall, the years SLAC has won the trophy are; 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021. No national cup wins.

In the 2018-2019 World Cup, he left the country for the first African Cup of Nations, which is still in the group stage.

The tournament’s history is that it played its first international match against Tunisia’s Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise.

In the 2020 BAL played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SLAC did not get a final ticket as it was relegated to the first round.

Prior to the BAL 2020 qualifiers, the SLAC administration hired and coached 58-year-old Serbian coach Željko Zečević.

Željko Zečević has been offered a job at SLAC as he has become accustomed to African Basketball. Coached by US Monastir and Salée, the teams will play BAL for 2022.

Armed Forces and Police Basketball (FAP)

Forces Armées et Police Basketball is a Cameroonian national team that will play BAL 2022, the tournament will be played for the second time. In the last competition, FAP returned to the quarterfinals.

In the BAL 2022 tournament, FAP will start against REG BBC Basketball Club representing Rwanda. The match will be played on Saturday 21 May 2022 from 6:30 pm Kigali time.

The team has already arrived in Rwanda, founded in 1972 and playing at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex, which accommodates 5263 people, where it was built in 2009.

The Cameroonian Army has won two Champions League titles, including three Champions League titles in the Middle East.

In 2019, FAP entered the qualifying round for the BAL 2020 ticket because the Condor Basketball Club had run out of resources.

Prior to entering the BAL 2020 finals, the FAP management hired Lazare Adingono to be their Coach of the Year and the 2021 Championship.

Lazare Adingono is a 44-year-old Cameroonian with United States citizenship.

Lazarus is not new to African basketball as he coached eight-year-old Pedro de Luanda from Angola (2012-2020), and the Cameroon national team.
