Three years later, Golden State made its return to the NBA Finals. The Warriors, carried by Klay Thompson in fusion, won a fourth victory against the Dallas Mavericks (120-110), despite the late start of Luka Doncic, Thursday in the play-offs.
Golden State will play its sixth final in eight years. A performance that no team had achieved since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, winners of their six finals in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will try to win a fourth ring , after their coronations in 2015, 2017 and 2018. They will have to overcome the Celtics or the Heat, who are currently facing each other in the Eastern Conference Finals (3-2 for the C’s).
Despite their defeat in Game 4 on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks (119-109), the Warriors wanted at all costs to finish the job in their room, this Friday, to give themselves the maximum rest before a potential final. Message perfectly integrated by the band to Steph Curry, applied in defense but above all lethal in attack, through a very inspired Klay Thompson (top scorer with 32 units, at 8/16 at three points). Also with an unplayable Kevon Looney under the hoop (18 rebounds including 7 offensive), Steve Kerr’s players were able to take advantage of a Luka Doncic inside to take a certain lead from the break (69-52).
Doncic’s wake-up call wasn’t enough
If the address of Spencer Dinwiddie (26 points) allowed his people to maintain a slim hope of returning, the Californians perfectly managed their lead in the second period. Despite the awakening of the Slovenian star of the Mavs, who scored 15 points during the third quarter after only scoring 6 in the first half, Golden State’s major five took turns perfectly and took advantage opposing defensive largesse. Besides Thompson, Curry (admittedly far from his standards, 5/17 shooting), Green, Wiggins and Looney all scored between 10 and 18 points.

After taking out the Jazz (4-2) then the Suns (4-3), the march will this time have been too high for Jason Kidd’s men, victims of the gap between their depth of manpower and that of a team as experienced as these Warriors. As of next Thursday, Jordan Poole’s teammates will therefore play the final, with their sights set on a fourth ring in eight seasons. Facing Miami or Boston, the franchise could win the seventh title in its history.
