The Chase Center, the other great pride of the owner of the Warriors

The Oracle Arena had experienced unforgettable final seasons since from 2015 to 2019, the Warriors hall hosted the Finals every year. Inevitably, the departure of this mythical room and the disaster season of 2019/2020 had difficulty launching the new adventure at the Chase Center.

Three years later, the franchise is back in the NBA Finals and on the way to a historic rebound. In a new setting therefore, in San Francisco, which is the pride of Joe Lacob.

“I am as proud of the Chase Center as I am of this team”the Warriors owner tells NBC Sports. “I can’t say how difficult it was to get there. It took seven years and, in this city more than elsewhere, it was complicated. And as we know, it was with private money. And of that, I’m proud of it. We didn’t take any money from the police, fire department or social services. We are truly proud of that. »

The construction is the bottom in a way. And if the form is obviously successful, the room still needs to take a few years.

” The result ? To me, he’s great.” continues Lacob. “Every evening, as soon as I come into this room, I get chills. I love it and the players love it too. For 50 years, I have been going to see matches. I have known all the rooms in the world. And, in my opinion, none is better than that, than the Chase Center. She simply needs to live, to have the history of the Oracle or of a place like Madison Square Garden. »

Great players under the colors of the Warriors, memorable seasons, playoff matches, Finals and titles, it’s the perfect cocktail to bring the Chase Center into the hearts, as the Oracle Arena did during decades.

“I’m going to give a statistic that is for me the most mind-blowing”, warns Joe Lacob, owner of the franchise since 2010. “The Celtics are giants, but Jerry Buss owned the Lakers for 33 years (from 1979 to his death in February 2013). Do you know the number of Finals he has made in 33 years? 16! It’s amazing. We are at 6 Finals in 12 years and I really like this percentage of 50%. Will we continue at this pace? I do not know. But I can assure you that we will do everything for it. »
