BASEBALL. After their first three games, the Brock are still looking for their first win this season.
In their last outing, Sunday night, in Pointe-aux-Trembles, the Drummondvillois suffered a 9-3 loss against the Montreal Jets. Playing their first home game this season, the Jets took a 4-0 lead in their first turn at bat before experiencing another four-run surge in the fifth inning.
In his debut for the Brock, American Tyler Clark-Chiapparelli drove in two runs with a single and a double. Alexandre Morinville had one hit, two walks and one RBI.
In his second start in the Quebec Major Baseball League (LBMQ), American Justin Revels suffered a second setback. In five innings of work, the right-hander allowed nine runs on 11 hits and three walks. He struck out ten Jets batters at bat.
Called in relief in the sixth inning, Tyler Clark-Chiapparelli was perfect by making three strikeouts.
In the Jets’ camp (3-2), Jonathan Martin hit three hits, including two homers, producing four runs. Jayson Caron (three RBIs) and Guillaume Ayotte (two RBIs) also had timely hits.
The victory went to veteran right-hander Keven Spénard, who allowed two runs in five innings of work. Guillaume Ayotte and Emmanuel Hamel-Carey launched in relief.
The Brock (0-3) will try to win their first success this season on Friday evening, while the Cactus de Victoriaville (1-2) will be at the Jacques-Desautels stadium. The first throw is scheduled for 8 p.m.
On Sunday, the Thetford Mines Blue Sox (2-0) will visit Mathieu Audet’s troop starting at 6 p.m.
