The German number three serves in the forest park for their club TC Blau-Weiss Dresden-Blasewitz. Opponent is the team from TC Bad Vilbel.

“After two defeats at the start of the season, we want to do everything we can to score the first points of the season at home in order to take an important step closer to staying up in the league. We’re very happy if Andrea will support us and lead our team,” says team manager Sven Grosse.

For a long time it was not clear whether Petkovic could come, because after qualifying at the WTA tournament in Rome she was still waiting to see if she might slip into the main draw as a lucky loser. Late on Wednesday evening it was clear: Unfortunately, that won’t work.

Petkovic has been playing for the largest tennis club in eastern Germany since 2019 and steers in theirs premiere season three important points to stay up. The league did not take place in 2020 due to the corona pandemic, and in 2021 the final participation of “Petkos” in the WTA tournament in Hamburg prevented it from being used in Dresden.

After two defeats away from home at TK Blau-Weiß Aachen (2:7) and the narrow and unfortunate defeat in the first home game against title favorite TC Bredeney Essen (4:5), the Blau-weißen from Dresden are now doing everything they can to get the first points to bring to the forest park.

The club is currently sixth in the table. Of the seven teams, there is only one relegated team at the end of the season. “The conditions for an exciting day of play in the forest park are ideal, and we’re looking forward to numerous tennis enthusiasts,” says Grosse.

In addition, those responsible around the team manager and trainer Bastian Knittel (38) were able to win the German doubles specialist Vivian Heisen (28) for the match day. She also played in Rome this week, but lost in the doubles in the round of 16.

The encounter against Bad Vilbel starts on Saturday at 12 noon in Dresden’s forest park. Tickets are available at the box office for 15 euros (7.50 euros reduced).
