Steve Kerr: “Basketball Doesn’t Matter, I’m Tired Now”

Before the third game of the Western Conference Finals in the NBA, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was in no condition to talk basketball. An armed attack was carried out on an elementary school in the state of Texas, where the match will be played, and 21 people, including 19 students, were killed.

Steve Kerr, who had emotional moments at the press conference, said that basketball is not important and that a solution to these problems should be found now:

“Any question about basketball doesn’t matter… 400 miles from here, kids and a teacher were killed. Black and old people have been murdered in a Buffalo supermarket in the last 10 days. Church-going Asians were killed in Southern California…”

The 56-year-old coach stated that he is tired of these social events and has no strength to endure anymore:

“When are we going to do something? I’m tired… I’m so tired of coming here to offer my condolences to the devastated families there! This is what we do every week! I’m fed up… We’re going to play this game tonight. But I want everyone here, everyone who listens to me, to think of their own child, grandchild, mother, father or sibling. How would you feel if something like this happened to you today?”

Steve Kerr stated that paying homage doesn’t change anything and they can’t live with it anymore:

“We can’t live with this. We can’t just sit here and read what happened and say, ‘Let’s take a moment of silence’! Go Dubs, go Mavs, play matches… That’s what we’re going to do! We’re going to go play a basketball game.”
