The name of the future Ditchen coach who will have the heavy task of succeeding Rémi Giuitta in Provence is now known: it is Rémy Valin! Once the announcement of Rémi Giuitta’s decision to put his coaching career on hold, Fos Provence Basket set out to find his successor, guided by the need to find the best available profile without wasting too much time in order to to be able to quickly work on the 2022-2023 workforce. The Ditch management has made its choice and it is Rémy Valin who has been appointed! The Provençal club therefore leaves with another Rémy, with a Y this time, also 44 years old, and who has often been compared during his career with Rémi Giuitta. Rémy Valin also made a name for himself by leading a long-term project in 2007 near Évreux, with whom he played leading roles in Pro B for a long time and where he remained for eight years (a longevity record for a coach in club history). Elected best coach in the division in 2013, he finally left the ALM in 2015 to join the neighboring club of Rouen, then propelled to the first division, where he notably coached Jean-Michel Mipoka (and three former Ditchens: Ron Lewis, Souleyman Diabaté and Abdou Mbaye). Since 2017, Rémy Valin has returned to Pro B at Denain where he has succeeded in developing his playing identity within his group, culminating in a Pro B Leaders Cup won in 2018. In 2019, the technician was also named assistant of the French selection during the All Star Game LNB as a reward for the good course of the Denaisiens that season.

After a quietly acquired maintenance and a season finished at the gates of the 2022 accession play-offs, Rémy Valin will therefore cross France to commit to a two-year contract with Fos Provence Basket and start a new project with a big challenge. proposed to him: to perpetuate the Byers club in the elite of French basketball.
