Spectacular ninth place achieved by the Spanish women’s badminton team for the 2nd consecutive year after defeating Australia by 4 to 1, they were third in the group after losing the previous days against China Taipéi by 4 to 1 and against China by 5 to 0.
Against Australia they won in singles Carolina Marin 21 to 12 and 21 to 18, Clara Azurmendi 21 to 11 and 21 to 13 and Bea Corrales 21 to 14, 17 to 21 and 21 to 14.
Then in the doubles the very young won Ania Setien and Lucia Rodriguez 21 to 16 and 21 to 15, the only defeat was that of Clara Azurmendi and Bea Corrales since they gave up playing.
