South Americans: Athletics and five other sports begin

The final stretch of the III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022 begins and seven sports make their presentation, joining Futsal, which had its first matches on Wednesday. This Thursday, May 5, comes Badminton, Beach Handball, Boxing, Hockey 5, Skateboarding, Athletics and Triathlon, the latter two deliver medals.

In athletics, at the Municipal Stadium Cluster, there will be Long Jump, Javelin Throw, 100-meter dash, and 1500-meter dash, all in both branches, all will deliver medals. While the semifinals will be played in the men’s 110 meters hurdles and the women’s 400 meters flat.

In Triathlon, with free entry, it will be the dispute for medals in Individual Sprint, both male and female. Then, in Badminton, at Newell’s Old Boys, the elimination rounds begin in women’s and men’s singles and doubles in its three categories (men’s, women’s and mixed).

In Beach Handball, at the Clúster de La Rural stadium Arena, the group stage begins with Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela. For its part, Boxing, in Hall C of the La Rural Cluster, will be presented in female with the 48-51 kg categories; 54-57kg; 57-60kg; and 64-69 kg. While the men will have activity in 48-52 kg; 57-63kg; and 69-75 kg.

The Hockey 5 group stage begins at the Hippodrome with six delegations, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay, at the same time that, with free admission, Skatebording arrives at the games with the classification of the Women’s Steet and Male.

Finally, Futsal, which debuted on Wednesday with its first matches in the Provincial Cluster, continues with the group stage that Colombia and Argentina won in their presentation for group A; for group B, Brazil beat Bolivia in the debut.

Goodbye to Karate and Judo

It should be remembered that both Karate and Judo closed their participation this Wednesday with great emotion and medalists who will not forget their time at Rosario 2022. Thus, the III South American Games say goodbye to two more sports that knew how to be the center of attention in the first days of the week. With this closure, there are already 14 disciplines that successfully passed through the mega event.

In Karate, the Brazilian delegations reached both finals, but the surprise was given by Bolivia with a gold, while in Judo, the Verdeamarela delegation was once again the protagonist and Ecuador, Colombia and Peru also stood out.

Argentina, on Wednesday, won a bronze medal from Juan Ignacio Gallardo in the men’s -61kg Karate and Francisco González in the men’s -100kg won the bronze medal.

Triathlon becomes Duathlon

Likewise, the Organizing Committee of the III South American Youth Games reported that the Triathlon event will be held in Duathlon format.

The decision was made jointly between Odesur, the South American Triathlon Confederation and the Rosario 2022 Organizing Committee due to the low water temperatures of the Parque Independencia Lake. In this way, the competition will be carried out with the cycling and running tests.

This Thursday from 7.30 the final of the women’s sprint will start, while from 9.30 it will be the definition of the men’s sprint.

Return the party of the Fan Fest

After three days where energies were recharged, this Thursday the Fan Fest reopens at the South American Youth Games from 8 in the morning and until 6 in the afternoon. Located on Oroño Boulevard, from Cochabamba until February 27, the entire city will be able to enjoy the proposal that captivated more than 600,000 people from Rosario last weekend.

Along with its opening, guided tours of schools in the city and the region return, and there will also be pre-sports spaces, a gastronomic square, sponsor activations and E-Sports. In addition to the cultural proposals presented by the museums that are within the Parque Único Suramericano.
