Simón Gabarro and Arancha Patón enjoyed and learned at the Spanish Judo Championship

The judokas from Tomellos, Simón Gabarro and Arancha Patón experienced an intense Spanish Championship last weekend in Pamplona. As expected, the level and degree of demand were high and they could not be among the best, but as their coach, Yamila Gómez, explains, “both enjoyed and learned a lot in this national championship that was held at the Navarra Arena.”

Gabarro had bad luck in the crosses and the first fight was with the one who would be the champion of Spain. In the repechage he had to face the third classified. Two defeats against two great rivals that served as experience and learning. As for him, Arancha was only able to play a fight in which he left everything, but he was unable to defeat a rival of great quality.

This month of May will be very intense for Tomellos judo. Today, Friday, at the Sports Gala, Nicolás Parra will be awarded as the best athlete with a disability. On May 20, the end of the course ceremony will take place, which will host personal defense exhibitions, the delivery of the new belts and a simulated competition.

Two days later, on May 22, the Marcelo Grande Theater will host the Castile-La Mancha Federation Judo Gala where tribute will be paid to Eugenio Benito, the great promoter of judo in Tomelloso and a highly appreciated person in the regional and national for the great work he did. In this gala, the fourth black belt will be awarded to Isidro Cepeda.

Judo from Tomellos still has important appointments left in May with a sub-11 team championship that will take place in Orgaz and the sub-13 championship that will be held this weekend in Consuegra.
