Secures medal in tennis for UANL – University Life

Emiliano Aguilera Guerrero will give a tennis medal to the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) after a long drought in the white sport within the National Universiade.

The student of the Faculty of Sports Organization advanced to the semifinals of this discipline in singles categorysecuring a bronze medal and with ample possibilities to fight for the gold medal.

In the quarterfinals, Aguilera beat Carlos Alvarez, from the Anahuac Queretaro University. The UANL tennis player fell 4-6 in the first set, but then won the next three by scores of 6-1, 7-6 and 7-4.

At the start of the second day, Emiliano Aguilera also won in two sets, by scores of 6-1 and 6-0, his opponent from UNAM, the tennis player Juan Barronin a meeting held at Deportivo San Miguel.

Advance in mixed doubles

Within the second day of activities of the 2022 National Universiade in the tennis discipline, UANL also opened its participation in the mixed doubles modality with the right foot.

Emiliano Aguilera and Elisa Gonzáleza student at the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences, defeated their rivals from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez in a set 8-2.

Both UANL tennis players will continue their participation on 15 th of May in the quarter finals of the tournament.

Concludes participation in women’s singles

In the female branch, Carolina Montelongo Martinezan eighth-semester student at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, was eliminated after falling to Marina Mexia, from the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON).

Elisa González García, student of the eighth semester of the Actuarial career, succumbed to Mónica Pineda, from ITSON, both in the second round.
