Schippers immediately sprint to victory in the first game since the Olympic Games | NOW

Dafne Schippers made her comeback on the athletics track on Thursday. The Utrecht girl came into action at the Harry Schulting Games in Vught for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics, which were disappointing for her.

The 29-year-old Schippers participated somewhat unexpectedly in the 100 meters in Vught and immediately sprinted to the win. In the final she was ahead of her compatriots Jamile Samuel and Tasa Jiya with 11.37 seconds.

In the series, Schippers recorded a time of 11.23, but with 3 meters per second she had too much tailwind. Her personal best in the 100 meters (10.81) dates from 2015.

Schippers ran her last game at the Tokyo Games in August last year. There she grabbed the medals in both the 200 and 4×100 meter relay. She has struggled with her form all season.

In October it was announced that Schippers, who announced after the Games that something had to change and took a break, had broken up with her coach Bart Bennema. The two-time world champion in the 200 meters is now training under Wigert Thunnissen.

Earlier this month, Schippers announced that she would participate in the FBK Games, after she had trained in the lee for a number of months. In Hengelo she will also run the 100 meters on Monday 6 June.
