One of the sore points at Club Brugge is Ruud Vormer. Too good for the couch, too bad for the base. Does that mean a departure?

It is quite possible. Because the Dutchman – who recently turned 34 – thinks he is still too young for a supporting role at his age. And although he still feels great at Club Brugge, he is looking to see if he can go somewhere else.

Zulte Waregem was a realistic option, but now that bosom friend Davy De fauw was not going to work as a sporting director, that possibility is already a lot less. AA Gent was also mentioned, but given the rivalry (also between the fans) that is a bit difficult.

But now a new name suddenly pops up with… Antwerp. Not so surprising, because at the Bosuil they want to unpack with big names and with sporting director Marc Overmars, a compatriot of Vormer is now also working.

The big question is whether Bart Verhaeghe is interested in such a transition. After all, the Bruges president is at war with Antwerp chairman Paul Gheysens and a move of his public favorite to Antwerp would sting tremendously.

On the other hand, there is also the question of whether Verhaeghe Vormer – who is still under contract in Bruges for one year – can deny a transfer. Voet van oorlog

Al is dé grote vraag of Bart Verhaeghe zo’n overgang wel ziet zitten. De Brugse preses leeft immers op voet van oorlog met Antwerp-voorzitter Paul Gheysens en een verhuis van zijn publiekslieveling naar Antwerp zou geweldig steken.

Aan de andere kant is er ook de vraag of Verhaeghe Vormer – die in Brugge nog één jaar onder contract ligt – een transfer kan ontzeggen. Want zo zou hij iemand die enorme verdiensten heeft een kans ontnemen waarbij hij zich sportief kan herlanceren. Wordt vervolgd.
