Ampo Ordizia has qualified for the semifinals of the Rugby Division of Honor, after beating Enerside Sciences from Seville this Sunday 26-20 in Altamira. The match could not have been more even, with constant alternatives on the scoreboard and in the game, but in the last minutes the Ordiziarras were more successful. Thanks to a penalty shot and a drop goal scored by the Argentine Valentín Cruz with seventeen minutes remaining, the Goierritarras surpassed the quarterfinals.

In two weeks they will face SilverStorm El Salvador in the semifinals, who also won by six points (20-14) in their tie against Aparedores de Burgos. The match will be played at the Pepe Rojo and it will be the same game that faced both teams in the Cup semifinal, although that time it was played in Ordizia. Santboiana beat Barça (30-23) and awaits a rival in the other semifinal.

The match played in Altamira took place according to the expected script. Two even teams, in form and with many weapons to deal damage to each other. It was a tough match, close and good rugby in which one team hit and the rival responded immediately. No one clearly dominated and each team had its moments. It was necessary to take advantage of them and the Ordiziarras, when they lost (17-20), were better in the last twenty minutes. Two shots from Cruz and an impressive 40-meter drop gave a six-point lead (26-20) that was decisive

It should be noted that the attack and the points have a lot of value, but some defensive actions are just as or more valuable, and there is the action of Lander Gómez, with three minutes to go. The Sevillians, after a touche to five, headed with power and speed to score a try almost under the sticks that would have put Science ahead. When the Sevillian player, Sam Weasly, was going to pose the oval, Gómez put his hands up and interceded to recover it and, surely, give Ordizia a pass to the semifinals. It was a key action.

There were up to five alternations on the scoreboard. Ampo was up to three times ahead, by Sciences twice. There were also two draws, seven and twenty. In the end, the victory could go to either of the two teams, but the locals managed the end of the match better and took a victory from experience and knowing how to be.
