Roger Federer – why the superstar will fall out of the world rankings after almost 25 years

On September 22, 1997, the name Roger Federer appeared for the first time in the ATP ranking, at position 803.

On May 20, 2002 he made it into the top 10, and on February 2, 2004 he took over the top position for the first time, which he had held for 310 weeks during his career.

Federer is now 40 years old and is fighting for his comeback, which is planned for the second half of the year. In October he wants to play at the home tournament in Basel.

However, by then he should no longer be found in the world rankings.

Currently number 47 in the world, he has 1030 points – a value that, as things stand, will drop to zero points on July 11th.

Federer calculation – this is how the points break away

Why it is like that?

According to the ATP, Federer will lose his 180 points from Roland-Garros on June 13th, a week later those 250 from the ATP tournament in Halle.

On July 11, the superstar’s last 600 points from Wimbledon will be erased.

This would mean that Federer would fall completely out of the world rankings without ATP points – after 9058 days!
