On Saturday, Robert Lewandowski was presented with the top scorer in the Bundesliga for the seventh time. Whether more will be added has been more than questionable since last week. Farewell to FC Bayern is getting closer and closer.
WWorld footballer Robert Lewandowski is about to win the Bundesliga top scorer again. With 34 goals, the FC Bayern attacker clearly leads the scorer list before the last matchday this Saturday, ahead of Patrik Schick (24 goals) from Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Erling Haaland from Dortmund (21 goals). For Lewandowski it will be the seventh award as top scorer. He will draw level with record holder Gerd Müller.
Will he overtake him too? That is at least in doubt. The 33-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season. Bayern would like to draw up a new working paper for the outstanding attacker of the past decade in the Bundesliga. But it won’t come to that. This reports “Image”.
Lewandowski informed those responsible last week that he would not extend the contract again in Munich. Which in turn means for the club that they have to let him move for free in the summer of 2023 or sell him in the coming transfer window and thus still get a fee.
“We will have talks”
So far, Bayern have categorically ruled out a sale – FC Barcelona is said to be interested. Sports director Hasan Salihamdiz replied to the question of whether Lewandowski should still not go to “Bild”: “As I said before: we will have talks.”
The Poles should be bothered by how much time the club took with the first meeting on the future of the goalscorer. It took place at the end of April and is said to have been rather vague. Lewandowski also apparently didn’t like the fact that Bayern flirted with Haaland’s commitment to the end.
